What is Timebanking?

Timebanking is a way of giving and receiving to build supportive networks and strong communities. One hour helping another earns sixty Timebank minutes (also called time credits, service credits or time dollars.) Timebanking builds on the magic of “pay it forward,” one good turn leading to another and another.

Make a new post either advertising your services or requesting the services of others.  If you and another user agree upon a service to be provided, the person providing the service “sells” their time to the person receiving the service.

Once the service is completed, the receiver accepts the transaction and then may comment upon the provider’s service and rate it.  If the service is not completed, simply reject the transaction.

Once this is all complete, the provider will have the time from the transaction banked in their account to be spent on other services with other users and the receiver will have the time deducted from their account.

The minutes are not weighted by what service is being provided.  60 minutes of cleaning toilets = 60 minutes of computer repair = 60 minutes of brain surgery.  If the user is willing to offer their service through the Timebank, their time is worth the same as everyone else’s.

OKC Timebank is in no way responsible for the services being provided or any damages, injuries, etc resulting from said services.  We simply provide a place to exchange the time.
